End of the 13th century. The Iberian Peninsula is a gigantic battlefield between Christians and Muslims. To the north, the reconquered territories of Asturias, Castile and Leon. To the south, the still powerful Muslim kingdoms of Cordoba and Granada. In the center, the struggle around the strategic and powerful city of Toledo. 

An incursion of Muslims commanded by Abu Bark sows chaos in a small village located in a no man's land between the city of Toledo and the Arab kingdom to the south. The peasants try to confront the Muslim hosts, but the defense is desperate and fruitless. In one of the houses, Martín and his older brother, Andrés, try to protect their mother and little Blanca while waiting for reinforcements. Andrés is a brave young man and when the Muslim soldiers arrive at his house, he fights titanically against them, but there are too many of them. Martin, hidden with Blanca, helplessly witnesses the terrible death of his brother and mother. 

When the Christian troops commanded by Rodrigo, Martín's father, arrive hours later, it is too late. Martín and Blanca have survived, but for the boy that is no consolation. He feels that he is a coward, that he has not known how to protect his family. This wound will haunt him for the rest of his life... 

The fiction has been sold to several territories such as Romania, Latam excluding Brazil and CIS plus Baltic countries.
