Starting September 23, from Monday through Friday at 4:30 p.m. on La 1 and RTVE Play.

After a series of dramatic developments over the past few days, “La Moderna” will launch its third season next week. La 1’s daily drama, produced by RTVE and Mediawan in collaboration with Boomerang TV, is completely transforming its storylines with new leading cast members joining the tea room’s existing employees and patrons.

Lola Marceli, Jesús Mosquera, Miguel Hermoso, Magdalena Tejado, Diana Palazón, Pepe Nufrio, and Clara Alvarado will be the protagonists of the new main storyline. Joining them in the cast and already familiar to “La Moderna’s” audience are other performers such as Begoña Maestre, Carles Sanjaime, Teresa Hurtado de Ory, Berta Galo, Llorenç González, Alba Gutiérrez, Sara Rivero, and Bárbara Maestranza, among others. The cast will continue to grow with the subsequent arrival of other new characters played by Eduardo Rosa, Fanny Gautier, Maribel Ripoll, and Roger Berruezo, among others.

These new protagonists will play the ruthless Pedraza family. And this third season will also mark the return of César Morel, the character played by Miguel Ángel Muñoz.

The Pedraza Family Disrupts the Storylines

The Pedraza family’s return to Spain after a stay in South America will shake up life at “La Moderna.” The family’s patriarch, Emiliano Pedraza (Miguel Hermoso), is a despotic landowner and childhood friend of Don Fermín’s who owns a textile business and is about to become the owner of the shopping arcade where the tea room is located.  Emiliano’s marriage to Maruja (Lola Marceli) is little more than a farce in which the housekeeper, Pepita (Diana Palazón) also plays a key role, much to her dismay.

Emiliano and Maruja have two children that are both a headache for him. Paula (Magdalena Tejado) is a nonconformist, rebellious young woman who has no intention of working in any of her father’s companies. She would rather be independent and open a clothing store for women of modest means. Moreover, Paula is romantically involved with Pepita’s son, Rodrigo (Jesús Mosquera), and the two encounter all sorts of barriers and obstacles.

The Pedraza’s other child, Iván (Pepe Nufrio), is a bon vivant whose father despises him for his inclination towards idleness, his lack of initiative, and his crazy ideas. Among these is the idea of getting too close to César Morel’s (Miguel Ángel Muñoz’s) sister Mercedes (Clara Alvarado). In fact, the owner of the Madrid Cabaret will also try to get closer to another member of the Pedraza family.

More Changes to the Storylines on “La Moderna”

Other regular visitors to the shopping arcade and tea room will continue to experience their own tensions, including Don Fermín in his new relationship with Doña Lázara. The secrets of the past are coming to light, and the life of La Moderna’s owner is about to be shaken up. Teresa and Cañete are deeply implicated in the events that unfold.
Antonia and Pietro won’t have an easy life either. An unexpected circumstance comes up in the life of the Italian pastry chef, and the two have to fight with all their might to avoid a tragedy.

Finally, Trini and Miguel are dealing with being new parents. As first-time parents, they’re having trouble getting used to their new role. For better or worse, they have help from Trini’s mother Leonora, who seems to have attracted a suitor who is as annoying as he is peculiar.

Renovated Sets for this Third Season

The stage sets, covering over 2,500 square meters, and the scenery have been renovated for this third season.

The shopping arcade where the tea room is located has been updated and now has two new rooms: Emiliano Pedraza’s office and his daughter, Paula’s, clothing boutique.
The studio that houses the main character’s homes, including the Pedraza family’s impressive mansion, will also feature the corrala’s new canteen, producer Agustín Comas’ office, Trini and Miguel’s new house, and César Morel’s home.
